Child support in Illinois and the facts that govern it

In Illinois, the government takes very seriously the issue of child support. They believe that children should not suffer because their parents get a divorce. This has not always been the case but the court will now always do its best to put the needs and interests of the child first. Having a good attorney by your side can be a huge help in making sure that your side of the story is told. Your children deserve to be treated well.

Child support services in Illinois are free of charge, but it is best to be represented because an attorney will know the subtle variations in the law that will help your case.

When you are in the middle of a child support issue, you may have been issued an Administrative Support Order that requires you to register with the court. You can do this on your own or you can have an attorney represent you. At this juncture, you may need the support of a knowledgeable professional who can assist you in getting the best outcome.

You need to have the Department of Child Support's certified support records and make sure they are correctly filed. In certain counties, a Notice of Registration of Administrative Orders should be served first at the office of the General Counsel of that county.

On a different note, it is well known that parents who live in poverty are often females who have never been married and are under 30 years old. They have a less advanced education than is typical. They are more likely to receive child support than other groups.

Being aware of the law is so important when you are in a child support battle. You may want to contact an attorney who can help guide you through the process of getting what is rightfully yours, whether you have custody of the children or not.
